Sprint said in a statement that the offer was designed to help people in rural areas, where the carrier has been struggling to keep up with the demand for internet services.
The carrier has struggled to maintain high-speed internet coverage and has been forced to increase prices to cover these areas.
Sustained growth and investment have helped Sprint expand into the more rural areas of the country, the company said.
“The Rural Internet Business Plan (RIBP) will help rural Sprint customers receive high-quality broadband that is affordable and delivers the fastest, most reliable internet experience available today,” the company wrote.
“The RIBP helps rural Sprint provide a competitive edge and enables them to meet the needs of customers in these regions.”
Sprint also announced a new mobile hotspot for $15 a month, as well as a $15 prepaid credit for customers who have small amounts of mobile data.
It said it will also expand its internet access to rural areas in the next few weeks.
In March, Sprint introduced a new plan for customers in California that allows customers to add $5 to their monthly bill for unlimited texting, voice and data, as long as they have a $100 balance.
The plan will expire on May 31.
