A few days ago, the internet went dark across the nation, affecting about 150 million Australians.
It was one of the biggest internet outages in recent memory, with thousands of websites shut down, including some popular ones like Facebook and YouTube.
But the outage was only one of many that have occurred during the last few days, including a severe blackout of the internet in the city of Melbourne last week.
And it was just one of those outages that Australians have been forced to endure in the last year or so, with some internet services going down for several days at a time, like the Netflix outage in November last year.
This is the first in a series of posts that will look at what is happening to the internet and what can be done to mitigate the impacts of the blackout.
What are the internet blackout rules?
The federal government announced the first rules on Tuesday, which will be in place for the next few weeks.
These rules are meant to stop the internet going down in large swathes of Australia, such as Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia, and Northern Territory, until at least Tuesday, November 18.
The government has said these rules will be used to mitigate outages of a more serious nature, like a catastrophic power outage.
The rules were also designed to address the problem of what it calls “infrastructure outages”.
This is when a large portion of the infrastructure that is used to deliver services such as telecommunications, water supply, or power fails, causing major disruptions to the country’s internet connectivity.
It is estimated that these outages have cost more than $2 billion since last year, but there are also estimates that it could cost as much as $5 billion a year to keep the country up and running.
How can I stay connected?
What you need a ‘bundle of rights’ forThe rules will not cover internet access for Australians who do not have a fixed broadband connection, which can be as simple as a home phone line or an internet access connection in your own home.
However, these rules do provide a “bundle” of rights, known as a bundle of rights (BOR), that can be given to people who have internet access but do not need it to use their home or work.
This means people who do need it can get access to it by providing a BOR.
If you don’t have a BON, you will not be able to get a fixed internet connection from your internet provider.
Instead, the rules are designed to make sure people who are using the internet to access their personal or business affairs can access it at all times, and that those who do have internet will be able do so safely.
What will be affected by the new rules?
As part of the new internet outage rules, ISPs will be required to offer a “package of rights” to internet users, known simply as “BORs”.
These BORs are designed for people who may be disconnected from the internet, but can access their internet access if they need to.BOR packages include a basic internet access bundle that covers basic internet speeds, and a set of additional BOR packages that covers additional speeds.
The most basic of these BOR package packages will be the same as the current internet access package, with a minimum speed of 50 megabits per second (Mbps), and no limit on the number of simultaneous connections.
If there is a connection issue with your internet connection, a call out to a local service provider will be enough to resolve it.
The new rules also allow ISPs to provide a package of BOR for the “best” internet service available to the customer.
This is usually a lower-cost, lower-bandwidth option that offers a better connection, but is not guaranteed to have high speed.
The best internet service providers that are currently in the market include Optus, iiNet, and Telstra.
The internet blackout rule does not apply to broadband providers that have opted in to the new scheme.
If your ISP is not yet in the “market”, they will be asked to sign up for the new plan, which is also available to new and existing customers.
What about the Netflix blackout?
Netflix is a popular internet streaming service that has been blocked in Australia due to a lack of an alternative internet service provider, the iiNet.
It has also been criticised for its lack of customer support, as it has not provided an alternative service.
However the Australian Communications and Media Authority has confirmed that the new laws will be applied to all internet service provided by Netflix.
The agency is working with Netflix to establish a new internet service service provider and is working to ensure the new provider has a similar set of services and a similar structure to that currently offered by Netflix, which has been given the go-ahead to use the new services.
What’s the Netflix situation all about?
Netflix was created in Australia by an Australian company, i-Bounty, which
